Longmont, CO
Jennifer Kemp, Local Food & Public Outreach Specialist for Boulder County Parks & Open Space, became interested in agriculture and food policy while on a college study abroad program, where she met with farmers in India, Thailand, Malaysia, New Zealand and Mexico to learn about the impacts of globalization on rural farming communities. After graduating from college, Jennifer worked for a year at a diversified CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm in Loveland, Colorado, prior to attending the University of Colorado School of Law. Upon graduating from law school, Jennifer worked at Rocky Mountain Farmers Union as the Director of Government Affairs and as a Cooperative Development Specialist at the RMFU Cooperative and Economic Development Center. Jennifer joined the Ag Division of Boulder County Parks & Open Space in the spring of 2012, where she is able to work in the policy arena while at the same time helping to implement on the ground projects. Jennifer also co-founded and serves as the Board President for St. Vrain Community Montessori School, a preschool to 8th grade public charter school in the St. Vrain Valley School District.
