James M. Edwards is an ecosocial designer working with individuals, organizations, and communities to move towards systems and practices that promote harmony with nature and within themselves. As an experiential educator, James employs practices that integrate mind, body, and soul to co-create holistic learning experiences with his students. As co-founder of the nonprofit Empower Program, he developing Social and Emotional Learning curricula for middle and high schools; at Boston University’s Center for Digital Arts and at the Washington Jesuit Academy, he developed and taught Documentary Production programs; he is also a teacher of karate, aikido and yoga. In over twenty years of using media as a tool for change, James has created programming of all kinds on history, culture, and society. His credits include immersive environments for The Smithsonian Museums; multilingual, current-affairs programs for Public Television; investigative documentaries for Al-Jazeera; compelling shorts for numerous NGOs; live broadcasts for international conferences, and more. As an entrepreneur, James has concentrated on creating and supporting companies that improve their communities through opportunity creation, equity promotion, and environmental stewardship. James has a B.A. in Diplomacy and History from Occidental College and is an M.Sc. candidate in Ecosocial Design at Gaia University.
